DREAM symposium: Technology and Musical Thought
Institute of Musical Research, School of Advanced Study, University of London
Senate House, Room G22/26
This one-day symposium is part of the DREAM project (Digital Re-appropriation of ElectroAcoustic Music), which aims to investigate and re-create digitally the analogue equipment used during the 1950s in the Studio di Fonologia Musicale at the RAI studio, Milan. The symposium will contextualise the interaction between musical thought and technology as exemplified by the composers of the RAI studio and address the wider issue of how electronic technology – both analogue and digital – has influenced musical composition in the past and how it continues to inform how we ‘think’ musically today.
